Jeff Simmonds is a very talented, energetic and hardworking writer/director and I believe with the right support and opportunities he will make a superb and adventurous Escalator film. I believe that going forward as the initiative suggests, he will be a valuable asset to our film making community and move onto larger scale projects.
The Eco-Terrorists will be a slick and well constructed film utilising Jeff’s talent and energy and embracing the collaboration required.
We will be having a rehearsal period with the cast prior to shooting to iron out any kinks in the script and characters, and also bring the story to life, getting the actors working together as an ensemble cast. This will aid shooting and help Jeff focus on where he can work best with each actor and also be prepared and focused on working with the technical team.
I will be 100% available to support Jeff through the process and advise him where possible on casting, production and all the processes and I would also work closely with Avalon to ensure deals are met and deadlines and budgets are reconciled and tidy throughout the process. I will be hands on and do whatever is needed to get the job done well.
I have had discussions with agents regarding cast – and there is interest from Gail Cowen to present a script to Keisha Castle-Hughes subject to availability and negotiation. I would utilise all my relationships in these areas to guarantee a strong and reliable cast.
We will shoot the film over 3 x 6 day weeks – 10 hour days maximising television processes. However, Fred Renata will oversee the lighting and production to ensure that we achieve a cinematic look and feel, and that the Eco-Terrorist doesn’t look like a television production.
Post Production including editing, track laying and sound post will be done at Avalon and the grade completed at Park Road Post.
I look forward to working on the Eco-Terrorist in 2012.
